“TMTR is more than great food. It is a venue where local artists showcase their art. Every month new artists are featured. This is a place where the community gathers to enjoy the best Lancaster has to offer.”
Edwin Vasquez (A local of Lancaster, CA)
Don’t you love it when you discover something so good that you wonder, ” Where have you been all my life!?” Well, that was me a couple days ago when I discovered a secret gem in my hometown. My sister and I always love finding new vegan restaurants to try out on our tastebuds, but we never really thought that we would find one in the small town that I live in. So when we found The Modern Tea Room in Lancaster, CA we were ecstatic!
This new age tea room has a vegan and non-vegan menu, and although I can’t speak on the non-vegan menu, I can tell you that everything here tastes AMAZING! From their pastries, to breakfast bowls and teas, my sister and I could not find anything negative to say about it.
When we looked at their breakfast menu we went bonkers! I mean, they had such a great Vegan selection it was ridiculous. We ended up getting almost the whole vegan menu (and we had no shame in our game). Here’s what we ended up indulging in:
- Tea infused pop tart
- Vegan lox & bagel
- Avocado toast
- Modern bowl
- Modern bowl wrap
- My waffle
- Oat English tea (hot)
- Matcha milk tea (hot)
- Orange Matcha (iced)
Yes, it was quite the spread; and I’m sure the waitress thought the same! But come on, with a menu with options like that, how could you not?
If I had to choose my absolute favorites (since saying everything was my favorite doesn’t count), it would have to be the Pop tart (upper left in picture), Lox & bagel (bottom left in picture) and the Oat English tea (middle right in picture). Oh man.. if I could, I would eat that trio everyday!
Although the Pop tart doesn’t look like your classic “Pop tart” it was still a yummy pastry. It had a blueberry filling with homemade blueberry syrup on top, that had just the right amount of sweetness and tartness to it. The Vegan Lox & bagel, I kid you not, tasted like a real Lox & bagel! CRAZY RIGHT!? The “Lox” part of the bagel is a tomato, marinated in either Kombu or Seaweed water I’m assuming (don’t quote me on that! ha!); either way, you got to try it. And to wash it down, we had the Oat English tea. It was so light, but with the strong taste of the oat milk and english tea and a hint of sweetness from the agave- oh man it was good!
So if you’re ever in the Antelope Valley, make sure to stop by The Modern Tea Room. I’m telling you guys, the prices are SO reasonable, service is amazing, it’s located on The BLVD (Lancaster’s downtown), and the food is PHENOMENAL. Happy eating!
