Halloween Doll Makeup

My daughter loves dressing up for Halloween, it’s starting to become a tradition. So when she told me she wanted to be a cracked doll this year, I was ecstatic! Halloween doll makeup is so fun and easy to do.

Creating the cracked halloween doll makeup look is so easy to achieve! And it doesn’t break the bank like other costumes do. This look can be done with some makeup, a dress, and a prop (but this is optional).

How to get the look? Here’s what you’ll need:

1. False Doll lashes

During the Halloween season, stores stock up on Halloween doll lashes that can usually be found by the costume isle.

I bought a pair of lashes from the costume isle and another pair from the make-up isle. Both were about the same price, $2-$3/each.

I ended up buying the more dramatic lash set from the costume isle for the top lashes, and a lighter-whispy lash set from the make-up isle for the bottom lashes.

2. Lash glue

Now, I know that most lash sets come with glue, but let me tell you from experience, the lash glue in the set will NOT hold up all day.

You need to purchase the DUO lash glue in black. I use to wear false lashes religiously and the DUO glue is the only glue that will last ALL DAY.

It comes in white, clear and black. For costume purposes, the black will work in your favor, but don’t fret if you can’t get the black option. All the DUO glues will work just as well!

3. Liquid liner

Black liquid liner will help you get the fine clean lines for the “cracks”. Lines with a black pencil liner doesn’t come out as clean or nice as the black liquid liner. I purchased the ELF felt tip liquid liner for $2 and it worked perfectly.

4. White eye liner

To achieve the big doll-eyed look, you’ll need to get white eyeliner. I’ve tried a Nude liner in the past but it doesn’t give you the same effect like white liner. I purchased Maybelline’s white eyeliner for $3.

5. A halloween doll dress

I found a Halloween doll dress from Wal-Mart ($12) but any cute dress would do.

All you need is a dress, any dress. All dolls wear dresses, so any will work for this costume!

Optional items.

I ended up getting some last minute things that I thought would help enhance the costume. This is optional of course! The look will still be great without it.

Here are the things I decided to add/use:

• Curling iron/straightener– I thought it would be cute to curl my daughters hair into big locks.
• ​Hairspray– To keep those curls in.
• Puppet headband– I found the puppet headband at Wal-Mart for $6.
• Lipstick– This one you totally can do without but gives a cute touch. We used the NYX matte in Sweet Pink.
• Blush & dark Eyeshadow w/ Brush– This will make the look a little more detailed. We used ELF cream blush in pink, and the ELF Nude eyeshadow pallet.

Alright, now here’s how to get the look!

• Using the black liquid liner, start by drawing out thin lines on the forehead and cheeks. Make sure all the lines start from a mid-point and branch out.
• Once you get the lines drawn, fill in the mid-point area to create a ‘hole’. As if a piece of the dolls face came off.

• Next, trace along some of the cracked lines with the white eyeliner to create depth to the crack.

• With the same white eyeliner, fill in the bottom lash line and a little below the lash line. This will create the base for the big doll-eyed look.

• You can also use the optional dark eyeshadow to fill in the eyelid and just beneath the white base. This will give the eyes a nice smokey eye effect.

• Then using the black eyeliner, line the top lash line and bottom of the white base you created. This will become a great guide for when you put the false lashes on.

• You’ll then measure the first pair of false lashes to fit your natural top lash line. Cut any excess lashes off. 

• With the second pair of lashes, flip it upside down so that the lashes are pointing down rather than up.

• Cut these lashes into 3-5 sections (depending on how large your white area is). Then place it along the fake bottom lash line you created.

• Be mindful that the larger lashes go on the outer part of the lash line and the smaller lashes go on the inner part of lash line (as shown in the picture below).

• For the mouth, take the black liquid liner and draw a slight horizontal line from the lips towards the cheeks. Then a vertical line down below the chin.

• Thicken the line and round out the edges just slightly to create a puppet-like feel.

Some optional steps you can do:

• Adding dark eye shadow inside the lines to create a slight shadow to the Marionette mouth lines.
• Adding lipstick to give the lips a pop of color.

Alright, let’s talk cheekbones! If you opt for a more simple cracked doll look, then your look is complete. You can move on to hair and costume dress. Yay!

BUT if you want to go all out- cheekbones and all, then here’s how to achieve this look:

• ​Take the dark shadow and create a crescent shape on both sides of the nostrils. Make sure that the crescent forms from the nostrils almost up to the top of the ears. Then just darken it slightly.
• Take the cream blush and place it right on top of the dark crescent. Being mindful to blend it a little into the dark shadow but not overpowering the color.

And there you have it!

Your Halloween doll makeup look is complete!

All you need to do now is put on a cute dress, the optional hair curls and headband!

This look will definitely be one that everyone will talk about and remember forever!
